San Diego retreat with Sogyal Rinpoche

As we are a Los Angeles based non-profit organization, I hope this post is appropriate for this community. If not, I will gladly remove it. :)

World renowned Tibetan teacher Sogyal Rinpoche is holding a ten day retreat, three day meditation weekend and a Friday evening public talk at San Diego's Bahia Resort, beginning November 26th. With opportunities for both beginners and more experienced practitioners, Sogyal Rinpoche will offer teaching of the practice of calm abiding (shamatha) and methods for realizing the nature of the mind.

Author of the highly acclaimed The Tibetan Book of Living and Dying, Sogyal Rinpoche was born in Eastern Tibet and is the founder and spiritual director of Rigpa, an international network of more than one hundred and thirty Buddhist groups spanning forty countries. He has been teaching around the world for over thirty years, addressing thousands on his tours and retreats.

To register or for more information please call 1-866-200-5876 or see Rigpa's website.

Group rates have been arranged with the resort. To book a room please call the Bahia at 1-800-576-4229.

Los Angeles Friends of Tibet helps preserve the endangered Tibetan culture and supports the Tibetan people's non-violent struggle for independence and self determination. We're a non-profit based, 501(C)3 organization that relies on voluntary service.

Looking for daytime bar/music venue recs

I've got a little one and can't make it out at night, but I often get some free daytime hours on the weekend and would love to find a nice (dive-y?) bar with live music in the daytime, to meetup with girlfriends, have a few beers.

If you have any good recs in the Los Angeles area, anything would be appreciated!

selling a car

Hello, Angeleno hivemind, and apologies for the crosspost...

I'm trying to figure out (for a friend) what the best places to post a used car for sale in LA are, other than Craigslist and Autotrader (my friend is not having much luck with those). Any ideas?

Hollywood apartment for Nov & Dec

Hey guys, does anyone need a place to live in LA for the months of November & December?

I'm going out of town and need someone to take over my spot in my wonderful Hollywood Hills apartment (near Franklin/Highland).

The rent is ridiculously cheap, only $425/month for a shared but spacious room with a fabulous roommate who is rarely home.

If you want more information, here's my Craigslist ad-

I'm really concerned about finding the right person who would get along well with my other roommates, which is why I'm turning to LJ in hopes of finding someone less creepy than the usual Craigslist responders.

Let me know if you're interested or have any questions!

Worldwide Photowalk 2010: LA Area Walks

Scott Kelby's 3rd Annual Worldwide Photowalk is July 24. There are several photowalks taking place in the Los Angeles area, including Downtown Los Angeles, Santa Monica, Descanso Gardens, Venice, Hollywood, Old Town Pasadena, San Pedro, and Travel Town at Griffith Park.

Each photowalk is limited to 50 registered walkers, and some walks are already full, but several still have lots of space available. You can check LA area photowalks at this link: http://worldwidephotowalk.com/locations/?q=los+angeles%2C+ca

More info about Worldwide Photowalk can be found here: http://worldwidephotowalk.com/

Worldwide Photowalk is a nice opportunity to meet fellow photographers, see parts of the city you haven't visited, or find new things about places you have been to. Also, even though a photowalk may be full, you can still sign up for a walk and be put on the wait list for a spot should someone drop out.

Hope some of y'all will go out on July 24 and get some shots of Los Angeles.
